AI insights
AI insights from your form responses
The themes in your latest responses, each backed by quotes checked against what people really wrote, and any long response read in a few lines. Identifying answers never leave hootform.
Free forever, with unlimited responses. No credit card.
Charts count what people picked. They can't tell you what a hundred people meant in the text box. Reading every answer works for the first twenty responses and stops working soon after. hootform's AI reads them for you, and checks its own work before you see it.
Themes across your responses
On a form's Insights, Summarize responses reads your latest 50 completed responses and writes a short report:
- What your responses say: a few sentences on the overall picture.
- Themes: the recurring topics, each with how many responses mention it ("12 of 50 responses") and quotes. Select a quote to open the response it came from.
- By question: what people said to each free-text question.
- What you could do: suggestions based on the themes.
The report is kept until you ask for a new one, and says how many newer responses it doesn't include, so you know when it's worth running again. See AI insights.
Checked, not trusted
AI can get things wrong, so hootform checks what comes back. A quote is only shown if those words really appear in that response. A theme's count is the number of responses hootform could verify behind it, not a number the model made up. Anything that refers to a response or question that doesn't exist is dropped.
One long response, read in a few lines
In any completed response, Summarize writes a headline, a short summary, the key points and the respondent's overall sentiment. Each key point links to the answer it's about. The headline also appears in the responses table, and Summarize this page does every response on the page at once, so you can see which ones to open. See summaries of single responses.
What's never sent
Only the questions and the answers that matter are sent. Email addresses, phone numbers, contact details, addresses, links, dates, files, signatures, numbers marked as personal, consent answers and hidden fields stay behind, and so do the respondent's browser and the page they came from. Responses are labelled "r1", "r2" and so on, so no ids leave either. On an encrypted form, reports and summaries are encrypted too.

Questions people ask
Is AI insights free?
AI insights and response summaries are part of Premium, at $19 a month for the whole organization. Reading, searching and filtering every response yourself is free on every plan.
Does AI read every response as it arrives?
No. Nothing is sent to an AI model because a response came in. A report or a summary is written only when an editor asks for one.
How many responses does it read?
The latest 50 completed responses, never your whole history, with duplicates skipped. A form needs at least 5 completed responses first.
Does it work in other languages?
Yes. Responses in any language are read, and every quote is still checked against the respondent's own words before it's shown.
