Live: General knowledge quiz template — nothing is saved

A quiz is a form that keeps count. Whether it's a classroom test, a training check, a personality quiz or a lead score, the work is the same: give each answer its points, add them up, and say something different depending on the total. hootform does all three in the builder, with no spreadsheet and no code.

Try it: a five-question quiz

The quiz beside this page is the free general knowledge quiz template. Answer the five questions and the last screen shows your score. Get all five right and you land on a different ending from someone who got three.

Points per answer

Name the number the quiz keeps, such as score, then give each question a calculation: add a point when the right choice is picked. A question can be worth more than one point, can take points away, or can add a number the respondent typed or a rating they gave, for totals rather than right and wrong. See scores and calculations.

The score follows the answers. Nothing is worked out by hand and nothing is stored mid-quiz, so going back and changing an answer changes the score with it.

Result screens

Put {{var:score}} in any question, description or ending to show the score so far: "You scored 7 out of 10." Most quizzes show it on the ending, but a running total halfway through works too.

Endings by score

A logic rule on the last question can check the score and jump to an ending: "score is at least 9" to one, "at least 5" to another, and everyone else to the default. Each ending has its own words and can redirect to a page of your own, such as a certificate, a booking page for high scores or a reading list for low ones. See branching on a score.

Assessments and lead scores

The same tools score more than trivia. A self-assessment can add up agreement ratings into a readiness score. A lead form can give points for budget and company size, and send the best leads to your calendar. An order form can multiply a quantity by a price.

Every score kept

Every response keeps its score, in the responses table, the CSV export, Google Sheets and webhooks. On Premium, Insights shows the average, lowest and highest score across completed responses.

Questions people ask

Is the quiz maker free?

Yes. Scores, result screens and endings by score are on the free plan, with unlimited quizzes and responses. Premium adds score statistics in Insights and drafting a quiz with AI.

Can AI make the quiz for me?

On Premium, describe the quiz, like "a 10-question science quiz for class 5 that shows the score", and the AI form builder drafts it with points and endings. Check every right answer before publishing.

Can I show people which answers they got wrong?

Not question by question. The ending shows the total. To explain an answer, add a statement after its question, or link to the answers from the ending.

Can I put a time limit on a quiz?

No. A quiz stays open until it's answered. You can close the whole quiz at a set time, or after a number of responses, with close conditions.

Do people need an account to take a quiz?

No. Anyone with the link can take it, and you can embed it on your own site.
