Form analytics
Form analytics that show where people stop
Every form shows how many people opened it, started, finished and how long it took. Premium adds where people drop off, what they picked, and what they said before they left.
Free forever, with unlimited responses. No credit card.
A form's response count only tells you who finished. The useful questions are about everyone else: how many people opened it and never started, which question made them stop, and what they had said by then. hootform works that out from your responses each time you open a form's Insights, so it's always up to date.
On the free plan
Every form, on every plan, shows its headline numbers. See the headline numbers.
- Views: how many times the form page was opened.
- Starts: responses where someone answered at least one question, and the share of views that became a start.
- Completions and the completion rate: responses that reached an ending, as a share of starts.
- Median time to complete: from the first answer to submitting. The median, so one person who left a tab open overnight doesn't skew it.
- How many people answered each question, in the form's own order.
On Premium
Premium, at $19 a month for the whole organization, adds the detail behind those numbers. See question by question.
- Drop-off: how many unfinished responses stopped at each question. A question where many people stop is usually too hard, too personal or unclear.
- Answer breakdowns: a bar for every choice, yes or no, rating and scale, with counts and percentages, and the average, lowest and highest number, rating and quiz score.
- Date ranges: narrow everything to a campaign or a launch week.
- Partial responses: read what people answered before they stopped, not just how many stopped. Every answer is saved as it's given, so nothing is lost; Premium is what lets you read it. See partial responses.
Summaries of what people wrote
Numbers don't cover free text. On Premium, AI insights read your latest 50 responses and write up the themes, each backed by real quotes, and a summary turns any single long response into a headline and a few key points.

Questions people ask
Is form analytics free?
The headline numbers are: views, starts, completions, completion rate, median time and answers per question, for every form. Drop-off, answer breakdowns, date ranges and partial responses are Premium.
How is the completion rate worked out?
Completions as a share of starts. Responses are counted on the day they started, so someone who starts on Monday and finishes on Tuesday is counted once, and the rate never goes over 100%.
Does a view count every visitor once?
No. Every time the form page loads counts as a view, so one person opening the link twice counts twice. A closed form or an unanswered password page doesn't count.
Can I see results by hidden field or campaign?
Insights covers every response. To look at one campaign, filter the responses table by its hidden field, which works on every plan.
