How they differ
Why people look for a Jotform alternative
Jotform can build almost any form, but its plans are metered. The free Starter plan allows a few active forms and a hundred submissions a month, and each paid plan raises those limits for one user. Teams that outgrow those limits pay more for every step up in submissions. When we checked, multi-user team plans started at Enterprise.
hootform doesn't meter anything that matters to a growing form. Every plan has unlimited forms and unlimited responses. Premium is $19 a month for the whole organization, however many people build forms.
A different kind of form
Jotform's classic forms put many fields on one page. hootform asks one question at a time by default, which suits surveys, feedback, applications and sign-ups that people fill in on a phone, and can put a whole form on one page too. Every answer is saved as it's given, so you see where people stop, and they can resume later.
- Logic jumps forward from any question type, or from a hidden field in the link.
- Answer recall uses earlier answers in later questions and endings.
- Encryption at rest per form for identifying answers and uploaded files.

A worked example
One person collects about 2,000 applications a month and wants the badge gone. On Jotform, 2,000 submissions is past Bronze, so it's the Silver plan. On hootform it's Premium, at $19 a month. Without the badge requirement, hootform's free plan would take all 2,000, and more.
Switching from Jotform
There's no importer, so rebuild each form, ideally from a template. Most field types have direct equivalents, including file uploads, signatures, matrices, dates and phone numbers. Payment fields don't: hootform doesn't take payments yet.
Your team comes with you, too. Workspaces keep each team's forms apart, with admin, editor and viewer roles, and everyone reads responses in one table, with a CSV export and a printable PDF of any single response.
Where Jotform fits better
- You need long, classic, many-fields-per-page forms such as applications, registrations or order forms.
- You want a very large template library and form widgets for almost every field you can think of.
- One person builds every form, so its single-user plans cost you nothing extra.

No. Every plan has unlimited forms and unlimited responses. Jotform's free plan limits active forms and monthly submissions.
Can several people work on forms together?
Yes. The free plan includes 3 people, and Premium includes everyone in the organization for one price, with admin, editor and viewer roles per workspace.
Can hootform take payments like Jotform?
Not yet. If your forms collect payments, Jotform is the better fit today.
Can I upload files and collect signatures?
Yes, on every plan. Free forms take files up to 10 MB, and Premium up to 25 MB.
