What would it cost you?
Move the numbers to match your team. Both bills are worked out from the published self-serve plans below, paying month to month.
How they differ
Two products that agree on the basics
Youform and hootform are built on the same idea: conversational, one-question-at-a-time forms, with unlimited forms and responses on the free plan. Both have logic and file uploads for free, and both show a small badge until you pay. If you're choosing between them, the free plans won't decide it. What each does beyond the basics, and how each charges a growing team, will.
Where hootform is different
- Encryption at rest, per form, on by default. Email addresses, phone numbers, dates, files and signatures are encrypted with a key for each form. See encryption.
- AI follow-ups on Premium ask one more question when an answer is vague or a score is low, and AI insights summarise your latest responses, with quotes checked against what people actually wrote.
- One price for the whole organization. Premium is $19 a month with everyone included. When we checked, Youform's paid plans each included a set number of team members, with extra seats charged on its Business plan.
- Answers saved as they're given, so you see where people drop off, and respondents can resume.
What respondents notice
Very little changes for the people answering: one question per screen, keyboard shortcuts, a progress bar and a design that's yours. What they may notice is a welcome screen that says how long the form takes, and, on Premium, a short follow-up when their answer was too brief to act on.
A worked example
A team of five wants its forms without the badge. On Youform that's the Business plan, since Pro includes three team members. On hootform it's Premium, at $19 a month, however many people join later. For one person who's happy with the badge, both are free.
Switching from Youform
There's no importer yet, so rebuild each form, ideally from a template. Question types, logic, hidden fields and answer recall all have direct equivalents. Respondents will find the experience familiar, since both ask one question per screen.
Where Youform fits better
- You want a much larger template gallery to start from today.
- You need file uploads with no per-file size cap, which its paid plans offer under fair use.
