How they differ
Why people compare hootform and Zoho Forms
Zoho Forms is a solid choice if your business already runs on Zoho, since its forms plug into Zoho CRM and the rest of the suite. On its own, its plans are metered. When we checked, the free plan allowed a few forms and a set number of submissions a month, and each paid plan raised those limits and the number of users.
hootform doesn't meter forms or responses on any plan. The free plan collects every response, and Premium is $19 a month for the whole organization, with everyone included.
What you get with hootform
- Unlimited forms and responses on every plan.
- One question at a time, with every answer saved as it's given, so you can see where people drop off and respondents can resume.
- Logic on any question or hidden field, several endings, and a map of every path.
- Encryption at rest per form, on by default. See encryption.
- AI follow-ups and AI insights on Premium.
Inside Zoho, or on its own
Inside the Zoho suite, Zoho Forms saves you an integration, since its forms feed Zoho CRM and the other apps directly. On its own, the metered plans add up as your forms get busier. hootform works the same way whatever else you use, sends responses to Google Sheets, and connects to anything else through webhooks and email notifications.
A worked example
A team of three collects about 1,000 responses a month, badge on. On Zoho Forms that's past the free plan's monthly limit, and a team of three needs the Standard plan. On hootform, the free plan includes 3 people, so the three of them can do it free; a fourth would need Premium, at $19 a month.
Switching from Zoho Forms
There's no importer, so rebuild each form, starting from a template. Most field types have equivalents. Zoho's own integrations don't carry over, so send responses to Zoho CRM or anything else with webhooks and an automation tool.
Where Zoho Forms fits better
- Your business already runs on Zoho CRM or other Zoho apps, and you want forms inside them.
- You need a cheap paid plan that removes the branding for one person.
