How they differ
Why people look for a Typeform alternative
Typeform made the one-question-at-a-time form popular, and hootform works the same way: one question per screen, keyboard shortcuts, logic that jumps ahead, answers recalled in later questions, and a design per form. If you like how a Typeform feels to fill in, a hootform will feel familiar to your respondents.
What's different is how you pay. Typeform's plans are metered by responses, and each plan includes a set number of seats. When we checked its pricing page, even the Business plan capped responses per month. hootform doesn't meter responses on any plan, the free one included, and Premium is $19 a month for the whole organization, with everyone on the team included.
What you get that Typeform doesn't lead with
- Answers saved as they're given. Every step is stored the moment it's answered, so a respondent can come back and resume, and you can see exactly where people drop off.
- Encryption at rest per form. Turn it on, and email addresses, phone numbers, links, dates and files are encrypted with a key for that form alone. See encryption.
- AI follow-ups and AI insights on Premium: one more question when an answer is vague, and a summary of your latest responses whose quotes are checked against what people actually wrote. See follow-ups and AI insights.
A worked example
Say a team of three runs a customer NPS survey that collects about 2,000 responses a month, and they don't want a "Powered by" badge on it. On Typeform, 2,000 responses is past the Plus plan's monthly allowance, so it's the Business plan. On hootform, it's Premium, at $19 a month, because they want the badge gone. With the badge left on, hootform's free plan would collect all 2,000 responses at no cost, since it includes 3 people.
Switching from Typeform
There's no importer yet, so switching means rebuilding each form. For most forms that takes minutes: pick a template or start blank, and the question types map closely, including rating, scale, ranking, matrix, file upload and signature. Logic rules jump forward, as in Typeform, and hidden fields read from the link the same way. Keep old responses in Typeform or export them to CSV before you close the account.
Where Typeform fits better
- You rely on native integrations with your CRM or marketing tools, and don't want to wire up a webhook.
- You need a video-first or recruiting workflow from its specialised plans, like Talent and Growth.
- Your team already lives in Typeform and has years of reports built on it; switching costs more than the plan does.

Questions people ask
Is hootform really free with unlimited responses?
Yes. Every plan, the free one included, has unlimited forms and unlimited responses under a fair use policy. The free plan shows a small "Powered by hootform" badge and includes 3 people.
Does hootform look like Typeform to respondents?
It works the same way: one question per screen, with keyboard shortcuts and smooth transitions. Each form has its own colours, fonts and pictures, so it looks like yours rather than ours.
Can I import my Typeform forms?
Not yet. Rebuilding is usually quick, especially from a template, and the question types and logic map closely.
Does hootform have integrations like Typeform's?
hootform has Google Sheets built in, free on every plan, plus signed webhooks and email notifications, which connect to anything that accepts a webhook, including automation tools. It doesn't yet have Typeform's catalogue of one-click integrations.
