Why these questions

Most product feedback surveys ask people to rate features. This one asks what they're trying to do, because that's what you can build from.

It opens with how they use it: daily, now and then, setting it up for others, or still evaluating. Then how often they open it. Those two answers let you read everything else by segment: a daily user asking for speed means something different from an evaluator asking for integrations. If you already know who's answering, add their plan and user_id to the link. The template records both as hidden fields, so you don't have to ask.

Next is a ranking: speed, reporting, integrations, mobile, and working together, dragged into the order they'd want them improved. A ranking forces trade-offs. A rating grid lets people mark everything "very important", which tells you nothing.

The heart of the survey is "What's the one thing you wish it did?" Answers to this question are often too short to act on, like "better reports". So on Premium it can ask a follow-up when an answer is vague. The template's guidance asks for the task they're trying to finish, not a feature name, and the follow-up asks for exactly that.

An overall rating and a consent checkbox for follow-up emails finish it. The checkbox records the exact wording each person agreed to.

Reading the answers: on Premium, Insights shows the average position of each ranked item, and AI insights groups the free-text answers into themes with quotes you can check.

Questions people ask

How do I know which customer gave which feedback?

Add plan and user_id to the survey link you send, for example from your app or your email tool. They're stored with each response as hidden fields, without the customer seeing them.

Why use a ranking instead of rating each area?

Because ratings let everything be important. Asking people to put five areas in order shows what they'd give up for what, which is the decision you actually have to make.

What does the AI follow-up do?

When an answer to "What's the one thing you wish it did?" is vague, the form asks one short follow-up question before moving on, written from what the person just said. It's a Premium feature, and the survey works normally without it.

Can I send this survey inside my app?

Yes. Embed it as a popup or a slider, and pass the user's id in the link so you know who answered.
