Question types
Consent
A checkbox for agreeing to terms, a privacy policy or marketing, which records exactly what was agreed to.
Consent asks a respondent to tick a box: "I agree to the terms of service". Unlike Yes / No, "no" isn't an answer. When the question is required, the box has to be ticked to continue.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Label | The text beside the checkbox, typed into the preview. It can include links. |
| Required | On by default for consent questions. Turn it off for optional agreements, such as joining a mailing list. |
To add a link to the label, write it as [the text](https://the-link):
I agree to the [terms of service](https://example.com/terms) and [privacy policy](https://example.com/privacy).
Links must start with https:// or http://, and open in a new tab so respondents don't lose their place.
What respondents see
A single checkbox with your label beside it. If it's required and they try to continue without ticking it, they see "Tick the box to continue."
The answer
The label itself, as it was worded when they ticked it. So if you later reword your terms, each response still records exactly what that respondent agreed to. An unticked optional box stores nothing.
- CSV, emails and the responses table: the label's text, without the link addresses.
- Webhooks:
valueis the label as written, links included;textis the plain text. - Consent answers are never sent to an AI model.
In logic
is answered (ticked) and is not answered (not ticked). For example, only ask about email preferences if someone ticked "Keep me updated".
