Multiple choice

A list of options to pick one or several from, with an optional "Other" for anything you didn't list.

The workhorse of surveys: "Which plan are you on?", "What do you use us for? (choose all that apply)".

Settings

Setting What it does
Choices The options, up to 100. Add, reorder and delete them in the settings pane; every choice needs a label before publishing.
Multiple selection Let respondents pick more than one.
Add an "Other" option Adds Other at the end of the list, with a box to type in.

What respondents see

Each choice is a card with a letter badge (A, B, C…) and a tick when picked. Respondents click or tap a card, or press its letter.

  • With one answer allowed, the form moves on by itself a moment after a pick.
  • With Multiple selection, a note says "Choose as many as you like", and they press OK when done.
  • Picking Other reveals a text box and waits for them to type. Choosing Other and typing nothing isn't an answer.

The answer

Choices are stored by id, not by label, so rewording a choice later doesn't break earlier responses. Several choices are stored in the order they appear in your list.

  • CSV, emails and the responses table: the labels, joined with commas. "Other" shows as Other: what they typed.
  • Webhooks: value holds the choice ids (a list, with Multiple selection) and text the labels.
  • Insights (Premium): a bar per choice with its count and share, in your list's order.

The text typed beside Other is stored separately from the choice, so Insights can still count "Other" while the text itself is encrypted.

In logic

includes, doesn't include, is answered, is not answered. Pick the choice to compare with, including Other.

Dig deeper

Trigger a follow-up on a choice: when someone picks "Too expensive" as their reason for leaving, ask what price would have worked.

Multiple choice or dropdown?

Use multiple choice for up to about eight options, where seeing them all at once helps. For long lists, like countries or product names, use a Dropdown.
