Question types
Dropdown
One option from a long list, shown as a compact select menu.
When the list is too long to show as cards (countries, departments, product models), a dropdown keeps the screen tidy.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Choices | The options, up to 100. Every choice needs a label before publishing. |
| Placeholder | What the menu says before anything is picked. |
| Add an "Other" option | Adds Other at the end of the list, with a box to type in. |
What respondents see
Their device's own select menu, which on phones is a scrolling picker. Choosing Other reveals a text box. They press Next to continue.
A dropdown takes exactly one answer. For several, use Multiple choice with Multiple selection.
The answer
The choice's id, so rewording a choice later doesn't break earlier responses.
- CSV, emails and the responses table: the label. "Other" shows as
Other: what they typed. - Webhooks:
valueis the choice id,textits label. - Insights (Premium): a bar per choice with its count and share.
As with multiple choice, text typed beside Other is stored separately and encrypted, while the choice itself stays countable.
In logic
is, is not, is answered, is not answered.
