Question types
Matrix
A grid that asks the same question about several things at once, with one answer per row.
A matrix asks several related questions with the same answers, in one grid: rate each part of an event from Poor to Excellent, or say how often you use each feature.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rows | The things being asked about, such as "Talks", "Venue", "Food". Up to 50. |
| Columns | The answers each row can have, such as "Poor", "OK", "Good", "Excellent". Up to 20. |
Every row and column needs a label before publishing. Keep columns short, since they sit side by side.
What respondents see
A grid with a row per item and a column per answer. They pick one cell in each row, by clicking or tapping; a row's answer can be changed by picking another cell.
If the question is Required, a note says "Pick one in every row", and every row must be answered before they can continue. If it's optional, they can answer only the rows they want.
The answer
One answer per row, stored by row and column id, so rewording labels later doesn't break earlier responses.
- CSV: one column per row, headed "Question – Row", each holding the column picked. That way each row sorts and filters on its own.
- Emails and the responses table:
Talks: Good; Venue: Excellent. - Webhooks:

In logic
is answered and is not answered only. To branch on how someone rated one particular thing, ask it as its own Rating or Multiple choice question.
