Why these questions

A product quiz sells by listening first. Instead of a grid of products, the shopper answers a few questions about themselves and lands on the one thing that fits, with a line saying why. This template is a haircare quiz, but the shape works for skincare, coffee, supplements, software plans or anything with a small range.

It asks five things: what their hair is like, what they'd change about it (pick any, with "Other"), how often they wash it, whether they use heat, and how long a routine they'll put up with. The questions are about the shopper, not the products. People answer those honestly, and they're the answers that decide the match.

Then comes an optional email, with a note that the match appears either way. Making it optional is deliberate: a quiz that holds the result hostage for an address feels like a trap, and the people who do leave one are the ones worth emailing.

The recommendation is decided by logic, in order. Damage or heat styling sends the shopper to the Repair Set first, whatever their hair type, because that problem comes before any other. Curly or coily hair goes to the Curl Set. Everyone else gets the Everyday Set. Each result screen uses answer recall to name their hair type back to them, which is what makes a recommendation feel personal rather than random.

To make it yours: rename the three results after your products, change the rules on the email question to match, and add utm_source and utm_campaign to your ad links. The template already records both as hidden fields, so you can see which campaign sold what.

How the logic works

Each rule is checked once its question is answered, and the first one that matches decides where the respondent goes next. How logic works

  • After “Where should we send your routine?”: if the answer to “What would you change about it?” includes “Breakage and split ends” or the answer to “Do you use heat to style it?” is Yes, jump to “Your match: the Repair Set”.
  • After “Where should we send your routine?”: if the answer to “How would you describe your hair?” is “Curly” or the answer to “How would you describe your hair?” is “Coily”, jump to “Your match: the Curl Set”.
  • After “Your match: the Everyday Set”, always finish the form.
  • After “Your match: the Curl Set”, always finish the form.

Questions people ask

How does the quiz decide which product to recommend?

With logic rules on the email question. They're checked in order, and the first one that matches decides the result. Put your most important rule first, as this template does with damage and heat.

Can I link each result to a product page?

Yes. Give each result its own ending and set a redirect link, and the shopper is sent straight to that product. Answers can be passed along in the link, too.

Does the shopper have to give an email to see their result?

No. The email question is optional and the result shows either way. You can make it required, but expect fewer people to finish.

Can I track which ad campaign each quiz response came from?

Yes. The template reads utm_source and utm_campaign from the link and stores them with each response, so the export shows which campaign led to which recommendation.
