Why these questions

A first call with a new client goes better when you've both done the reading. This intake form collects what you'd otherwise spend the first half hour asking, so the call can be about the work.

The contact details come first: name, email, company or project, and website, if they have one. The website is a link question, so you get a working link every time, even if they typed it without the https.

Then the substance:

  • What can we help with? is pick-any, from brand and identity to website design, build, campaigns and ongoing support, plus "Other". It tells you which team to bring to the call.
  • What would success look like six months from now? is the most important question on the form. On Premium, a vague answer gets one follow-up asking for a measurable outcome, an audience or a deadline.
  • What budget do you have in mind? uses ranges, including "not sure yet". Ranges are easier to answer honestly than a number, and they tell you quickly whether the project fits.
  • Is there a date it needs to be ready by? is optional.
  • Got a brief, or anything we should read first? takes up to three files, stored with the enquiry.

Last is how they heard about you. The template also records utm_source and utm_campaign as hidden fields, so you know which campaigns bring real work.

After it's sent: turn on notifications so whoever handles new business sees each enquiry at once, and send enquiries to your CRM with a webhook. The ending promises a reply within two working days. Keep the promise or change it.

Questions people ask

Can clients upload a brief or other documents?

Yes. The last-but-one question takes up to three files. Free forms accept files up to 10 MB each, and Premium forms up to 25 MB.

Can I send enquiries to my CRM?

Yes. Every completed enquiry can go to a webhook as signed JSON, with the hidden fields and file names included, for your CRM or an automation tool to pick up.

Should I ask for a budget?

Asking for a range saves both sides from a call about a project that doesn't fit. Keep "not sure yet" as an option. Plenty of good clients genuinely don't know.

Can I put the intake form on my website?

Yes. Embed it on your contact or start-a-project page, inline or as a popup from a button.
