Why these questions
A scholarship application needs to be thorough without being daunting. The people applying are often doing it for the first time. This template asks one question per screen, so a long application feels like a series of small steps, and every answer is saved as it's given.
It asks for name, email, school or university, what they're studying, and which year they're in. Then comes the personal statement: why they're applying, in about 300 words. A description sets the length, and the box has a character limit so nobody writes an essay they'll have to cut.
Is financial need part of your application? is a yes/no. Only a yes is asked about their circumstances, through logic, with a line saying only the selection panel reads it. Applicants for merit awards never see a question about money.
Then a required file upload takes the latest transcript and one reference letter, as documents, up to three files. A declaration that everything is true and may be shared with the panel finishes it, and records the exact wording each applicant agreed to.
Protecting applicants: turn on encryption, and email addresses and uploaded documents are encrypted at rest. Set retention to delete applications after the award is made (a Premium feature). Keep the form in a workspace only the panel can open.
Closing the round: set a closing date as a close condition, and late applications are refused automatically.
How the logic works
Each rule is checked once its question is answered, and the first one that matches decides where the respondent goes next. How logic works
- After “Is financial need part of your application?”: if the answer is No, jump to “Upload your latest transcript and one reference letter.”.
Make it yours
- Logic Answers decide what comes next, so each person only sees what applies to them.
- File upload Respondents attach files that are stored with their answers.
- Welcome screen Opens with a title, a line of context and how long it takes.
- Design Your colours, font and corners, and a picture or video on any screen.
- Encryption Turn it on and personal answers are encrypted at rest.
- Email notifications Teammates hear about each response as it's completed.
- Webhooks Send every response to your own systems, signed.
- Embedding Put it on your site inline, as a popup or as a slider.
Questions people ask
Can applicants upload documents?
Yes. The template asks for a transcript and a reference letter, as PDF or Word documents, up to three files. Free forms accept files up to 10 MB each.
Can applicants save their progress and come back?
Every answer is saved as it's given, so an applicant who closes the tab can come back to the same link on the same device and carry on where they left off.
How do I close applications on the deadline?
Set a close date on the form. After that, the link says the form is closed and no more applications are accepted.
Can the panel review applications together?
Yes. Invite the panel to the form's workspace as viewers. They can read every application, download the documents and export the lot to CSV.
